Logan Mailloux Recalled by Montreal Canadiens from Laval Rocket

Young Defenseman Set to Make NHL Debut

Montreal Canadiens defenseman Logan Mailloux has been called up from the American Hockey League's Laval Rocket on Monday night following the team's overtime loss to the New York Islanders.

Background on Mailloux

Logan Mailloux was born on April 15, 2003, in Belle River, Ontario. The 19-year-old defenseman was selected 31st overall by the Canadiens in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

Mailloux has spent the majority of his young career in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) with the London Knights and North Bay Battalion. In 120 OHL games, he has recorded 22 goals and 62 assists.

Controversial Past

Mailloux was involved in a controversial incident during the 2021-22 OHL season. In November 2021, it was revealed that Mailloux had shared a photo of a woman without her consent. This led to an investigation by the OHL and Hockey Canada, and Mailloux was suspended indefinitely.

After participating in counseling and completing a rehabilitation program, Mailloux was reinstated by the OHL in March 2022. He finished the season with the Laval Rocket and recorded 3 goals and 11 assists in 25 games.

NHL Debut Imminent

Mailloux will join the Canadiens ahead of their season finale against the Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday night. The young defenseman is expected to make his NHL debut in that game.

The Canadiens are hoping that Mailloux can provide some offensive support to their struggling power play. Mailloux is known for his offensive skills and is expected to play a significant role in the team's future.
